As The Best Yarn Store In Town
Yarnwonders:
The People Behind the Passion
At Yarnwonders, our team is our biggest strength—a group of individuals from diverse walks of life, united by a shared love for crochet and a commitment to empowering others through this beautiful craft. Here’s a closer look at the extraordinary people who make Yarnwonders what it is today.
Sowmya Varathan
The Visionary Founder
Sowmya started Yarnwonders in 2015 with a vision to make crochet accessible to everyone. A self-taught crocheter, she realized early on the gaps in existing training materials and created the groundbreaking YARNWONDERS CROCHET 101, a program that emphasizes the math behind crochet, making learning systematic and impactful. She curates classes that cater to beginners and intermediate learners, ensuring every student walks away with confidence and skills. Sowmya’s passion extends beyond teaching—she has built a community where women can earn a livelihood through crochet, and her efforts have transformed many lives.
Archana Narayanamoorthy:
The Pattern Pioneer
Archana, a trained architect and professor, found her passion for crochet during her creative journey and has been with Yarnwonders since its early days. A self-taught artist, she specializes in crafting adorable amigurumi and intricate miniature dolls. Archana’s unmatched patience and love for teaching have made her a beloved instructor. Her knack for designing unique patterns sets her apart, and her creations continue to inspire students and customers alike.
Emimal James (Emi):
The Silent Powerhouse
Emi, a pharmacist by profession and budding crochet artist, uses her spare time to teach and design beautiful crochet patterns. While she may be the quietest member of the team, her determination to see students succeed is undeniable. Emi won’t stop until every student masters the art, making her an indispensable part of the Yarnwonders family.
Raja Sabari:
The Creative Force
Sabari, a young graphic designer and talented pencil sketch artist, recently joined Yarnwonders. Her creativity has revolutionized our social media presence, giving our brand a vibrant digital identity. Sabari is also instrumental in digitizing our crochet patterns, making them accessible to a global audience. Her innovative designs and aesthetic sense are integral to Yarnwonders’ growth in the digital space.
Swathi Konuri:
The People’s Champion
Swathi, a devoted mother and homemaker, found her passion for crochet after 15 years of focusing on her family. Now with her daughter more independent, she has embraced this new journey with enthusiasm. Swathi’s natural people skills make her the heart of customer engagement. She is always ready to connect, listen, and ensure every customer and student feels valued. Her warmth and energy have helped foster a strong sense of community within Yarnwonders.
A Diverse and Growing Network
In addition to our Chennai-based core team, Yarnwonders collaborates with over 20 talented women working remotely across India. These women come from various backgrounds, united by their love for crochet and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while working from the comfort of their homes.
A Shared Vision for the Future
Together, this team is not only spreading the joy of crochet but also creating a legacy of empowerment. Yarnwonders continues to seek opportunities to grow, including exploring international markets to showcase Indian crochet artistry on a global stage.
Each member brings something unique to the table, making Yarnwonders a vibrant, inclusive community where creativity thrives and lives are transformed.
